ALLEN & HEATH STRENGTHENS DLIVE WITH NEW FEATURES AND SUPPORT PACKAGE

To coincide with the launch of dLive C Class, Allen & Heath has released a major firmware update to all dLive mixers, further enhancing the functionality and processing capabilities of the system, plus a package of warranty and service upgrades to customers of its flagship dLive S Class.

New features in V1.4 include advanced dynamic processing with the Dyn8 plugin providing 4 bands of dynamic EQ and 4 bands of multiband compression, DCA spills, quick Virtual Soundcheck mode, plus the Dimension Chorus Rack FX unit. There are also new additions to the array of DEEP embedded plugins, comprising the Peak Compressor/Limiter 76 emulation of a classic compressor, plus the Multi-Stage Ducking Processor. Also new to V1.4 is the option to display a third, independent view on an external monitor.

"We have been working with A&H modelling classics from Sawmills stock, measuring differences and relevance for live use,” comments John Cornfield, engineer at Sawmills (Muse, Supergrass, The Verve, Oasis). “I think the results are astounding – 16VU is an excellent rendition, Opto captures both the rough and smooth of optical compression, and 76 peak limiter is a faithful model of two particularly pleasant units, one old, one new."

Further to the firmware update, owners of dLive S Class systems will also benefit from a free warranty extension to 3 years. In support of the dLive Rental Network, a community of almost 200 professional PA companies stocking dLive S Class Systems around the world, Allen & Heath has also introduced a Fly&Hire service, through which the company will help facilitate local hire of the system wherever in the world an engineer, band or production company might be travelling.

V1.4 is available to download immediately from here.

ALLEN & HEATH LAUNCHES NEW APPS FOR DLIVE

Allen & Heath has launched two iPad apps to further enhance the dLive digital mixing experience. dLive MixPad provides comprehensive remote control of the live mix, whilst dLive OneMix focusses on personal monitoring.

dLive MixPad offers extensive control capability over channel processing, including filters, gates, parametric and graphic EQ, compressors and input/output delays, and gives the user instant access to any of the mixer’s channel faders and mutes, DCA faders and mutes, pan, aux sends and assignments as well as mic-pre control and full metering.

Other unique features for system setup include a real time analyser (RTA) to assist EQ’ing monitors and PA, the facility to name and colour channel strips, custom layers with drag ‘n drop strip setup, and channel PFL control for monitoring.

dLive OneMix is a version of the dLive MixPad app that locks control to a single aux monitor mix to give the musician customised personal monitor control without affecting the other monitors or FOH main mix. Multiple iPads can be set up by an Admin user to give the artists a custom set of controls.

Similarly, it is also possible to connect multiple MixPads to run in conjunction with a dLive Surface or Director software to provide simultaneous control, including independent PAFL buses. This function could enable one engineer to use the Surface to mix FOH and another an iPad to mix monitors on stage.

“MixPad offers dLive users the freedom to roam the venue or installation and control levels, the mix, EQ, dynamics and delays on the fly,” comments Allen & Heath’s R&D director, Rob Clark. “MixPad also offers comprehensive wireless control for a number of applications, such as monitor mix stage setup, soundcheck and PA tweaking, and surfaceless rack fixed installs.”

dLive MixPad and OneMix run on the current dLive firmware, V1.3, available to download from www.allen-heath.com.

Shure Launches SystemOn Audio Asset Management Software

Shure Launches SystemOn Audio Asset Management Software

Management of Mission Critical or Large Shure Audio Hardware Deployments for Improved IT Workflow

Niles, Ill., November 15, 2016—Today, Shure Incorporated unveiled its SystemOn Audio Asset Management Software, a solution designed to complement the Company’s existing wireless systems by providing management and control across enterprise-wide deployments. SystemOn provides centralized IT support and real-time troubleshooting for Shure Microflex® Wireless and ULXD ® Wireless systems and the SCM820 automatic mixer, with an efficient hardware status view from one central portal that identifies issues such as dead batteries and missing equipment and enables remote adjustment of channel level, mute status, and other parameters. For IT administrators and AV technicians responsible for large-scale and mission critical corporate and higher-education installations, the SystemOn framework provides enhanced convenience and ease-of-use.

In the modern business environment, constant connectivity is an absolute must. However, technical issues with AV equipment can often waste meeting participants’ time and require tech support, which can be more difficult and time-consuming at larger facilities like corporate and university campuses where resources are already spread thin. To make matters worse, the cause may turn out to be as simple as a dead battery.

The SystemOn solution is capable of remotely monitoring battery life, audio levels, and RF/spectrum status for various Shure hardware devices, enabling AV/IT technicians to control these devices from a central location. Users can be confident that potential problems will be detected before they become critical. Additionally, the link between Shure software and hardware provides greater convenience for technicians, serving as a comprehensive, cost-effective solution that does not require complicated programming like third-party control systems.

“The SystemOn solution will be most beneficial for AV/IT professionals tasked with managing mission critical facilities,” said Chad Wiggins, Senior Director of Networked Systems at Shure. “SystemOn software tells technicians information in real-time, before issues arise. SystemOn helps these technicians manage large deployments of Shure audio systems more efficiently, which increases uptime and maximizes the value of their investment in AV equipment.”

SystemOn software is sold through a subscription license that covers a defined time period, ranging from one to five years. Each network-connected device—such as an MXW APT access point and NCS charger, ULX-D receiver, or SCM820 automatic mixer—requires one license. The software will be available for purchase through any authorized Shure system integrator or distribution center.
